Re-staining of exterior decking:
While composite decking has grown in popularity, the majority of decks are still constructed from pressure treated lumber. These decks need re-sealed or stained every few years. This is a deck we recently completed.
Construction of retaining walls, along with replacing timbers on pathways:
This property has a network of pathways, which lead around the house and property along a slope to the water’s edge. These pathways were constructed from landscaping timbers, which needed replaced. We removed the rotted timbers and installed flagstone and pressure treated timber steps. Also, we removed and re-installed multiple landscaping timber retaining walls, with versa-lok stone.
Tiling of finished basement floor:
This flooring may look like wood but it’s actually tile. The flooring in this finished basement was damaged by water and the owner elected to recreate the look of wood with this a tile product.
Addition to traditional Deep Creek Lake cottage:
This home is reminiscent of the cottages that once surrounded Deep Creek Lake. Here, a large addition is being added that not only adds more living space, but also increases the dramactic view of Deep Creek Lake.

Re-staining of existing wood decking:
In order to maintain an original appearance and protect against wear, tear and moisture induced rot, wood decking needs re-stained every few years. This decking was entirely re-stained, making it appear like new.
Transformation of wood decking, to Trex Transcend deck boards and hand rail:
Trex decking is made of 95% post consumer recycled product and maintains it’s color and shape for decades. It comes with a 25 year anti-fade and anti-stain warranty. Unlike a traditional lumber deck, it doesn’t need sanded, stained or re-painted every few years. This deck was entirely made of pressure treated lumber, and we replaced the entire deck and hand-railing with Trex composite material.

HomeWorks used pressure treated lumbers and 12″ centers for added stability. To eliminate the risk of splinters, we used Trex Transcend (a composite decking product) as hand-railing.
Flagstone walkway installation:
This client wanted a large flagstone walkway that wraps around the home, with a built-in fire-pit. We constructed the walkway around the home, with a circular fire-pit and seating area.
Lakefront covered decking:
This client had an existing lake-side decking, which they wanted covered for greater enjoyment, even on rainy days.
Custom walk-in closet:
This client wanted to maximize closet space, with a custom designed walk-in closet system. HomeWorks installed the system and finished it, with a natural and appealing exterior.
This client uses their home as a vacation rental. They wanted a large decking for both themselves and potential renters to enjoy.
Exterior painting of lakefront home:
This large and unique lakefront home was in need of total re-painting. The home’s unique footprint and ambitious style ties in well with the natural environment.
Versa-Loc retaining wall:
This client had a pressure-treated lumber retaining wall, which held back a slope in front of the driveway. The pressure treated timbers had rotted out over the years. HomeWorks removed the rotted timbers and replaced them with Versa-Loc stone.
This large home needed total re-painting.
Repair of rotted roofing:
As you can see, the plywood beneath this client’s shingles had rotted and was failing entirely. HomeWorks removed the rotted plywood and replaced it with new, then replaced the distrubed and damaged shingles.
Exterior painting and flagstone patio:
This client wanted their entire home painted, while the other wanted large windows installed in the existing home and a large exterior flagstone patio.
Construction of custom wine-cellar:
This client wanted the existing basement replaced with a custom wine cellar. HomeWorks remodeled the basement and constructed a unique wine cellar, that matches the style of the home.
After fall in Deep Creek Lake, wooded properties are often buried in leaves. This property was over-run with leaves, until we cleaned it up making it entirely leaf-free.
Complete kitchen, and home remodel:
Many homes around Deep Creek Lake are long standing cottages. Owners want them renovated, not only bringing in a modern style, but also updating older, inefficient heating and cooling. This was a complete home re-model, including the kitchen.
